Summer Reading Challenge

Numerous studies show that kids who don’t read during the summer slip in their reading and learning abilities significantly. Over the years, this adds up and puts students at risk. Kids who DO READ tend to gain a month of reading proficiency. Here’s the secret to preventing the summer slide: Keep reading all summer long and beat the summer slide!

Did you also know that numerous studies show that students and adults who read have larger vocabularies, increased memory function, enhanced comprehension and analytical abilities, improved focus and concentration, and better writing skills? Who wouldn't want all that?

For this reason, we are inviting all students to participate in this summer reading challenge and throwing in some cool incentives! Students can read traditional books or digital books. Epic is an online program many students are familiar with for digital books and now TEA and Renaissance Learning have partnered together to bring all Texas students another digital platform this summer that's completely FREE called myON. We don't care how you read, just READ! Simply click on your child's campus to get all the details and see how to participate!
