J.E. Rhodes Elementary is excited to announce Mrs. Shannon Malone as the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year for our campus!
Mrs. Malone’s intentional approach to teaching and genuine care for her students make her an exceptional kindergarten educator at J.E. Rhodes. In her classroom, she creates a fun and nurturing environment where students are supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow every day.
A colleague shared these words: “Shannon is so thoughtful in the way she teaches. She really pays attention to how each student is doing and makes adjustments to help them grow, making sure no one gets left behind. She has high expectations, but she also gives her students all the support they need to meet those goals, and it shows in their progress. What really makes her special is how much she cares beyond the classroom. She takes the time to show up for her students at their extracurricular activities and celebrates their successes with them. It’s clear she cares about who they are as people, not just how they perform in school. The impact she has on her students is lasting.”
Mrs. Malone was surprised on the playground by students, staff, and administrators as she was presented with a plaque, a yard sign, and a $1,000 check from the Van ISD Education Foundation.
We are incredibly proud to have Mrs. Malone represent J.E. Rhodes as our Teacher of the Year.
