Beginning Monday, August 24, J.E. Rhodes Elementary will implement a new morning drop-off procedure designed to improve student safety, efficiency, and traffic flow around our campus.
🚗 ALL PK–3 STUDENTS WILL NOW BE DROPPED OFF BEHIND THE CAMPUS.
New Drop-Off Route:
➡️ Enter the drop-off line from Texas Street or Highway 110 onto Pecan Street
➡️ Turn RIGHT onto Pennsylvania Street
➡️ Turn RIGHT onto Bois 'D Arc
➡️ Follow the line to the designated drop-off area behind the campus
➡️ All PK–3 students will be dropped off together
➡️ After drop-off, loop through the parking lot and exit the same way you entered via Bois 'D Arc
As we transition to this new procedure, we know there may be a few hiccups along the way. We greatly appreciate your patience, grace, and cooperation as our staff and families adjust to the new traffic flow.

Our first-grade classes are bringing science to life with a hands-on study of the life cycle of a chicken! As part of their first-grade TEKS, students are getting an up-close look at the different stages of the life cycle and making real-world connections to what they’re learning in the classroom.

You will get to hear from your child’s teacher about our daily routines, systems, and all the exciting things happening this year! It’s a great way to see how our school runs, and how we can partner together to make it an awesome year for your child.
Have children in multiple classes or buildings? No worries! Drop your children off at their respective playgrounds for childcare, then choose one classroom to attend the full presentation. Since we are one school in two buildings, most of the information will be the same across classrooms! Afterward, you can stop by your other children’s classrooms to pick up an information packet, ask any quick questions, and learn about any classroom-specific details you may have missed.

🚙 If you have a child at BOTH the Littles and Bigs buildings during dismissal: Stay in the Littles line. When the Bigs line begins moving, you will merge into the Bigs line to complete pickup.

Wild About Growth! 🌿🦒
What an incredible way to kick off the 2026–2027 school year!
Van ISD staff gathered for our annual District Convocation with this year's safari-themed focus: Wild About Growth. From the moment the day began, our campuses brought the energy! Staff embraced the theme with khaki, animal prints, and creative costumes as they battled it out in a spirited competition for the coveted Spirit Stick.
🏆 Congratulations to Van High School, who claimed this year's Spirit Stick and earned bragging rights for the 2026–2027 school year!
The fun didn't stop there! We were thrilled to welcome The Creature Teacher, who introduced our staff to some amazing animal friends—including lizards, a kangaroo, and a red tailed BOA that only a few brave adventurers were willing to hold!
A heartfelt thank you to Valley Church for providing lunch for our staff for the 12th consecutive year. Your generosity and faithful support of Van ISD continue to be such a blessing to our district.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Becky Bristol from The Flower Connection, and the many generous donors who helped make lunch even more special by providing wonderful gifts and prizes for our team. Your kindness and investment in our educators are deeply appreciated.
Finally, a huge thank you to our outstanding Van ISD Curriculum Team for creating another unforgettable convocation. Your hard work, creativity, and encouragement inspired us to begin the year with renewed purpose, excitement, and a shared commitment to helping every student grow.

Van ISD staff gathered for our annual District Convocation with this year's safari-themed focus: Wild About Growth. From the moment the day began, our campuses brought the energy! Staff embraced the theme with khaki, animal prints, and creative costumes as they battled it out in a spirited competition for the coveted Spirit Stick.
🏆 Congratulations to Van High School, who claimed this year's Spirit Stick and earned bragging rights for the 2026–2027 school year!
The fun didn't stop there! We were thrilled to welcome The Creature Teacher, who introduced our staff to some amazing animal friends—including lizards, a kangaroo, and a red tailed BOA that only a few brave adventurers were willing to hold!
A heartfelt thank you to Valley Church for providing lunch for our staff for the 12th consecutive year. Your generosity and faithful support of Van ISD continue to be such a blessing to our district.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Becky Bristol from The Flower Connection, and the many generous donors who helped make lunch even more special by providing wonderful gifts and prizes for our team. Your kindness and investment in our educators are deeply appreciated.
Finally, a huge thank you to our outstanding Van ISD Curriculum Team for creating another unforgettable convocation. Your hard work, creativity, and encouragement inspired us to begin the year with renewed purpose, excitement, and a shared commitment to helping every student grow.

Good news! The Skyward Mobile App issue has been resolved for most users.
If you're still experiencing problems, please try the following:
✅ Delete the Skyward Mobile App from your device.
✅ Reinstall the app.
✅ Log in using your same username and password.
If reinstalling the app does not resolve the issue, please contact your child's campus for additional troubleshooting assistance.
Please Note: At this time, J.E. Rhodes Elementary and Van Middle School student schedules are not yet available in Skyward. We are continuing to work with Skyward to resolve this remaining issue as quickly as possible.
