students face the front of the room in a lecture hall with a teacher in front

Our students know that "After High School Comes COLLEGE!" Last week, all 3rd graders traveled to the University of Texas at Tyler for a field trip. While there, our students toured the campus, sat in on a few classes, enjoyed lunch in the cafeteria, and even learned how to do the "Swoop, Swoop!".

At Van ISD,  our core belief is, “EVERY child has the right to be prepared to attend college, and it is the responsibility of the adults in our schools to put systems in place to make that happen.” This is an annual trip for our 3rd graders to expose them to what college could look like for them, and teach them the importance of higher education.

UT Tyler grants many scholarships to the seniors at our high school, and is very supportive of our district as a whole. We enjoy this trip each year - especially when the weather is beautiful for our outdoor tour!
