Van Intermediate School is thrilled to announce Mrs. Lori Thomas as the 2024- 2025 Teacher of the Year for our campus!
Mrs. Thomas is the kind of teacher every student remembers—the one who makes math come alive, who greets every day with energy and optimism, and who sees potential in every child who walks through her door.
Described by her peers as creative, passionate, and deeply committed, Mrs. Thomas brings learning to life with imaginative classroom themes and hands-on experiences that turn even the most challenging lessons into exciting adventures. One colleague shared, “Her creativity shines through in her unique mathematical themes… Lori has an incredible ability to make learning both fun and practical.”
But it’s not just her teaching that stands out—it’s her heart. Whether she’s staying late to help a student, jumping in to support a coworker, or looking for new ways to grow professionally, Lori shows what it means to lead with kindness and dedication. Another nomination noted, “She is always willing to help with her time, resources, or by supporting others. Her commitment to excellence is evident in everything she does.”
Mrs. Thomas was honored Monday with a surprise visit from the Vandal drum line, cheerleaders, and administrators, and was presented with a plaque, a yard sign, and a $1,000 check from the Van ISD Education Foundation.
We are so thankful for the joy and excellence Mrs. Thomas brings to Van Intermediate and proud to have her represent our campus as Teacher of the Year!
