There’s a place for every Vandal to connect, create and belong — and we want to help our students find it!
This week, we’re spotlighting the Van High School Bison Club, a student organization that combines hands-on skills, community service, career exploration and a whole lot of fun!
Led by Mr. Duke, the Bison Club was established three years ago and meets during WIN (What I Need) Time. The club is open to all VHS students involved in the Construction pathway.
🔨 So, what does Bison Club do?
Students put their skills to work through real-world building and design projects while finding ways to serve their community. Members have built picnic tables for Tyler State Park, delivered gifts to a local nursing home for Christmas and Valentine’s Day, and taken some pretty awesome field trips!
Last year, students visited NUCOR, where they got an up-close look at career opportunities that connect directly to the skills and interests they are developing at VHS.
But Bison Club is about more than building things — it’s about building relationships, confidence and a path toward the future.
Junior Lucas McRae summed it up best:
❤️ “I love the Bison Club because we feel like family.”

For students considering a career in the trades — or those who have simply always been drawn to creating, designing and working with their hands — Bison Club may be the perfect place to find their people, develop their skills and explore where those talents could take them.
At Van ISD, there are so many ways to get involved. Find your interest. Find your people. Find your place. ❤️
