As promised, the annual Vandal Bonfire has been rescheduled!!! 🔥🔥 The bonfire will be tomorrow, November 7th at 6:30 PM in the field across from J.E. Rhodes Elementary and the Administration Building. We can't wait to celebrate this Vandal tradition with everyone! 🤩

The parade route and pep rally location are the same as last year! 👏
All floats need to lineup behind Van High School at 7:00, and the parade will begin at 7:30 down Main St!
The Community Pep Rally will now be held in the field across the street from the Van ISD Administration Building, at the end of the parade route!!

Our 4th graders took a trip to Mrs. Shaw & Ms. Peden's Book Café" today for a "Book Tasting"! 🤗📚
Students traveled to each table to find a different genre. They selected a book, rated their first impression of the story, and decided whether or not it was something that they would like to continue reading in the future. 📖📕 #WeAreVan

Instead of “binging” a Netflix show, 9th and 10th graders in Mrs. Richardson's English class are “binging” short stories! 📚🤩
Students rotated around the room previewing six different short stories with their groups before picking one to annotate and study! 📝

Follow these steps to view your child's STAAR scores:
1️⃣ If you're using the app, choose to open Skyward Family Access in BROWSER (or on a desktop)
2️⃣ Slide your view all the way to the right, and select "District Links"
3️⃣ Select "Staar Scores" from the dropdown menu
If you have multiple children enrolled in Van ISD, a link to each student's scores will pop up here, as long as you have "All Students" selected.

Parents, please check out these reminders from our nurses as we start the new school year!
In order for us to take the best possible care of your child during the day, please make sure that the nurse on your child's campus has the following items:
1. Up to date shot record, or an exemption form completed & notarized
👉 All new students must have this before the first day of school
👉 All incoming 7th graders must have Tdap and Meningitis (MCV4)
2. Doctor orders and action plans if your child has a health issue, such as Diabetes, Seizures, Asthma, etc.
👉 Orders must be renewed every year & signed by a doctor
👉 Action Plans must also be revised/updated every year & signed by doctor, parent, nurse
👉 Current and viable contact phone numbers are needed
👉 A meeting with your child's campus nurse may give you extra peace of mind
3. All medications that your child may take during school hours
👉 Must be in original bottle
👉 Must be labeled (correct student name, medication, dose, and when to administer)
👉 Authorization forms must be completed and signed for each medication
👉 All medical supplies your child might use during the school day
