Congratulations to senior Lucy York for being named VHS Vandal of the Week!
Get to know Lucy:
-Lucy is a Senior at VHS and the daughter of Rusty and Angela York.
-Lucy says her favorite teacher is Mrs. Reed, “because she’s so helpful with anything I need, and she’s so nice. She makes her classroom very homey, and it’s an amazing work environment.”
-After high school, Lucy wants to attend The University of North Texas. Lucy says, “I hope to work in women's sports, specifically the WNBA, as a sports broadcaster. I feel like women's sports need more coverage, and I want to make a change."
-Lucy says the best thing about VHS is “the traditions we do. My favorite traditions are the pep rallies, the fatty, and the homecoming parade and bonfire. It makes everyone come together as a community, and it’s really fun.”
-What Lucy's teachers say about her:
“Lucy has volunteered her time to announce the players and coaches at our volleyball games and has done an outstanding job! Her willingness to step up, represent our school, and contribute to our school community speaks volumes about her character. Lucy has a bright future ahead of her, and we are proud to recognize her as Vandal of the Week!"

🌟❤️ LEGACY BEGINS WITH LEADERSHIP! ❤️🌟
Our Van High School Student Council has been busy putting leadership into action! After completing the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, these students took what they learned beyond the classroom and into their first project — the Million Book Giveaway! 📚
Leadership is more than a title. It’s learning to serve, influence, and make a difference in the lives of others, and we are proud to see our Student Council students embracing that mission.
The Million Book Giveaway gave our students an opportunity to turn their leadership training into meaningful action through the gift of books and a love of reading. ❤️📖
We are proud of these young leaders and can't wait to see how they continue to lead, serve, and leave their legacy throughout the year!
Because at Van High School, legacy begins with leadership. ❤️🤍
